Bibigo : Angel

Guys?!?? I have a confession, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE KOREAN FOOD, probably more than TOP from big bang, as gorgeous as he is, for those of you who haven’t seen him in real life, pictures don’t do him beauty justice. I love Korean food more than him.

Picture Taken from http://stylematters.co.uk
My Go to place in London use to be Seoul bakery near Center Point, but since its move I haven’t been. Anyway to talk about what we originally are here to talk about.  BIBIGO have a restaurant in Angel, about 5 minutes’ walk from the station.

It was my friend’s birthday and as usual every year everyone in my group would have surprise birthday. So I suggested BIBIGO as she has the same passion for Korean food as I do.

For those of you who don’t know about BIBIGO they usually do packaged food, I’ve tried there kimichi before but other that I know of them from the Korean business and entertainment exhibition as PSY (Gangnam style, gentleman & Hangover) was their spokesperson. I already knew of this brand so when I saw their restaurant I knew I had to try it out and this was the perfect opportunity.

It has been a while since my visit, im going to try my best to remember what I can.

So starting with the interior (which is usually the selling point for me), its really nice in an oriental kind of way. Very spacious and mellowed out. The lighting is dim its almost romantic but it’s a really nice restaurant to wind down in. Saying that can we just take a moment to admire the beautiful interior please?

Its gorgeous aint it?

The pricing isn’t too expensive but it’s not cheap either.  The mains are average priced, starters are a bit pricey I think the desserts were okay priced too. From the date this review is written they have some decent lunch time offers. So its work checking out, but to get the full experience I would go in the evening. It’s a good place to go for a quite intimate meal.

I have to say the food was nice, it was presented beautifully and our waiter was great. I can’t express how much of a calm and relaxing experience it was. I went to the branch in angel but they also have a branch in Soho (what doesn’t Soho have?) We ordered the following

This is known as Tteokbokki, The tubey looking things are made out of rice cakes, its dumped in to a sweet and spicy type source. Its very chewy and flavoursome. This was quite nice, i do prefer the one from seoul bakery just because it has cheese and egg and spring onions and fish cakes. I usually make this at home at times.

Fried calamari with fried okra (Lord knows I love okra) with citrus soy sauce. This was delicious and the sauce was really nice you could taste the soy and it had citrus in it just the right amount to give you a kick too it and not be over whelming.

I cant remember what my friends ordered, I think it was the bimbimbap, i thought id try something different so i ordered the Korean wedding noodles also known as Janchi Guksu. The word Janchi means feast or banquet, this is apparently served at special occasions like weddings and big birthday.

It had vegetables topped on wheat noodles, really fine noodles with anchovy stock served with soy chilli sauce. What can I say, it was nice, really filling I struggle to finish it. It didn't have a really strong taste. It had the right amount of flavour, but then again I am happy to eat things with less flavour as much as i like to eat food with a lot of flavour.

I have always wanted to try this dessert. Its usually a popular street food, The excitement that they sell this in a restaurant in the UK was too much. So this is called a Bibigo Goldfish, Its basically a waffle shapes as a fish and filled with red bean cream. Bibigo serve this with their home made vanilla, ground almonds and berries. This was delicious, I wasn't sure about the red bean cream but you know what? everything complimented each other.

Guy is anything you need to go here for the goldfish, seriously just go for the fish, you need the fish in your life, specially a waffle fish with red bean cream served with ice cream. Try the fish, really try it... okay il stop know but Remember the fish!

Overall I’m really pleased with experience, atmosphere and quality of the food. If you guys do go let me know if you had the goldfish. how you felt about the fish, and if you enjoyed the fish.

Loaded Burgers - Ilford/ Cranbrook Road

Were back in Ilford, and Stoke Newington for this review. Loaded burger originally opened in Ilford Cranbrook road a while back, they have recently opened in stoke Newington. All the food served is Halal. They do not have table service so you need to go up to the cash desk and order your meal. Both restaurants look the same, but the Ilford one is slightly larger. Their interior is quite quirky, there sofa covers are made from jeans.

Picture Taken from: Travel Advisor
They specialise in burgers, also do a Burger Challenge. You do not win any t-shirts or have your meal on the house if you beat the challenge, but you do get to stack and build your own burgers which is pretty cool.

I have never tried the burgers there, I always get the half rack of ribs, they give you fries and coleslaw with it for around £11. My bill is usually around £16. Which to me isn’t bad at all.

The ribs are so tender and the flavour Is great, the menu does state that they are left to braise up the flavours for three hours and the portion size is mahossive. The chips where nice, I wasn’t too impressed with the coleslaw, but in their defence if you don’t like your coleslaw too wet it is nice. I just like my coleslaw wet even when I make a sandwich out of it. It gets messy but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I will go back to check out the burgers. 3 of my friends had the ribs and 1 had the Takon burger. Texting my friend, I asked how The Takon was and the reply I got was “it was alright” which doesn’t really give me much to work with so I’LL go and I’LL review it lol. From the description on the menu it did sound like it was probably the best one.

Salted Caramel & Bubblegum Milkshake
Aside from the Food Let’s talk about the drinks, and one drink in particular… the bubble gum daiquiri. This is officially my favourite its nicer then the bubble gum milkshake and bubble gum mojito. It is like crack, you actually have withdrawals. I wish loaded was down the road to me, I would actually go have this drink on the regs.

L-R clockwise - Strawberry Daiquiri, Bubblegum Mojito, Bubblegum Daiquiri
The price is affordable, were talking 15 pounds per head and the service is decent. They do not take card which is abit of a nuisance but overall I do like this place and I will go back.

Receipt from our trip to Ilford Loaded

Camden: Chin Chin Labs

When it comes to eating out, nothing excites me more than labs. If it were up to me, all chefs and waiters would wear lab coats and with test tubes in their pockets…. This is what happens when you have a science degree and do nothing with it.

So in the wonderful place of Camden (I’m sure views differ with this place but I happen to love it). There is this dessert place I have been dying to try, it goes by the name of Chin Chin Labs. The lab coats and lab kitchen aside let me tell you what’s so cool about this place…. The ice cream is made by …..Wait for it…… NITROGEN. Okay since my days of watching MAN VS Food and having him attend this place in the US where they create ice cream from nitrogen I was like someone please make this is London… I need ice cream made by liquid nitrogen. Alas someone listened lol.

So like I said its made with nitrogen gas, you wouldn’t know how it would taste. I was a bit afraid at first but I have to say it is SO GOOD! Like I practically have withdrawals… the toppings are so good. Honeycomb pieces…. HONEY COMB…..PIECES. They also have sauces too which are so rich in flavour. You can also have an Ice cream sandwich with cookies guys, I could marry this place you know.

Picture taken from http://blog.urbanoutfitters.co.uk
They allow you to buy the toppings in packs also. If you want to create your own ice cream at home without the nitrogen gas. Unless you have access to liquid nitrogen … then you need to tell me where it’s from … I want some. I want to make nitrogen gas ice cream at home, and I want to make it alone and eat it alone, It’s not for sharing. Sharing it should be against the law.

Picture Taken from: http://dicasdeferias.com
The ice cream takes around 2 minutes…. Who needs freezers right? The quality of the ice cream is so unreal it has to officially be the best ice cream I have ever had. It’s so full of flavour, nothing beats it till this day.

YOU HAVE TO GO!!! Let me know what you ordered down below. So I can try it next time

Stratford East Village: The Neighbourhood

Lets talk about the Olympic area in London. When I first heard about the Olympics coming to Stratford, I have to admit my first impressions were OMG, WHY?. The fear of over congested trains and traffic was daunting. I never even went to see the Olympic area until a few years back. Me any niece biked around the Leyton/Walthamstow Area a lot during the summer, just to pass time during Ramadan. One day we got quite bored of Walthamstow marshes. So I go to her let’s go in the opposite direction today. Being to the Olympic park before she suggested we go there. So bless the GPS on smart phones I punched in the details and off we went on our bikes.

Upon attending the Olympic park, I fell in love with it. The surrounding area was beautiful didn’t even feel like we were in London, or even England for that matter. So I took my whole tribe there, My dad had parked on Chobom road and we came from Chobom manor, that’s where I discovered this gem. Tucked away behind Westfield London, the easiest way to get here is through taken the exit next to Kurt Geiger.

Picture Taken from: http://www.faucetinn.com/neighbourhood/gallery/
I ordered the Prawn and shrimp burger with fries. I can’t remember how much it cost but I did pay around £30 for 2 people. This Burger was amazing, it was full of flavour and soft. The bun was toasted and it tasted so good. The fries felt like they were freshly made, our waiter also put rosemary salt on it for us. My friend got the ribs and said they were amazing.

The atmosphere is very nice. At the back they have like benches to sit on and eat while at the front they have tables and chairs. It’s very spacious and very clean. The customer service is great. I went during the day on a weekday so it was quite. I am not sure what it’s like on a weekend evening.

I would suggest you go check this place out. It’s quite the hidden gem in Stratford. It would be a great place to go to in the summer, you could then walk through victory park to the Olympic park.

German Donner Kebab

GUYS!!!! German Donners have landed in London. Why am I so excited about such a unhealthy meal? Il tell you why! It’s my favourite type of food, HYBRID FOOD! For those of you that don’t know what Hybrid food is, its basically 2 different foods fused together to make 1 awesome meal. I am obsessed with these since I made the ramen burger at home.

So a German donner is basically a donner in a waffle. The waffle is a savoury waffle but it makes a change to the naan and pitta you usually get.

A company called GDK was founded in berlin decades ago, they opened in Ilford last year and now have opened in Southall.

Let’s talk about the restaurant first as I can explain how clean it was for a fast food restaurant. The staff were great. I didn’t take any pictures as I went with my whole tribe…. There are 15 of us, we basically took up the whole place. My sister spent around £120 for all 15 of us, she did order some kids meals for the munchkins. It cost you under 10 pounds for 1 meal. They even have this donner lamachun roll which I yet have to try.

The food was so juicy and delicious. The portion is quite big and having too much can be abit sickening if you try and eat healthy often as you can like I do. You guys really need to check this place out.

Check out their facebook page for location and more info on what they serve.

OXO Tower, Southbank

Hi guys, hope you’re having an amazing day. I thought I would do another restaurant review for you. For those of you who watch made in Chelsea, I am sure you are familiar with the OXO Tower @ the South bank.  From what I can remember the girls are often seen bitching about each other in this fancy restaurant.

Picture Taken from http://www.oxotower.co.uk/about/
The OXO tower from what I understand is owned by Harvey nick’s (correct me if I am wrong). I have always wanted to go to this restaurant, along with 20 Fenchurch street, and sushi samba when it comes to those view the whole of London while you eat type of restaurants. You may have noticed Shard isn't on the list, I don’t know why but I was never really excited about it when it opened, I still am not excited, I really couldn't really tell you guys why it doesn't appeal to me.

Picture Taken from Londoniscool.com
So that in mind, I’ll have to tell you about the amazing deal I got. Places like these are quite pricey, when it comes to food I never mind paying a lot but due to working part time I have to budget my money if I want to continue to save up. This is the reason why I love set menu’s. Although the menu is limited. You know how much you will be paying before you even get there which is great because then you know to keep that money aside.

So last month I was on Facebook and you know you have those sponsored posts these days. Well there was one for the OXO Tower for £30 for a three course meal + a cocktail. I was like WHAT??? NO WAY!! So I clicked on the link and searched through and through to see if there were any catches or small prints. The only catch was it ended on the 11th of February and that you could only have this deal between 3-6pm and then 9-11pm I think. £30 for a three course and a drink I can’t complain. So I messaged my friend and convinced him to come with me and booked the table for 5.30.

As we arrived we walked up to the desk, the lovely gentleman at the desk was so kind and welcoming he checked our reservation and took our coats. He then asked another lovely lady to show us our seats, and explained what the cocktail had. I asked if there was a non-alcoholic version and she immediately said she could arrange that for me and it wouldn't be a problem. Another waiter then came and took our food order, he was also very nice.

The menu was as follows

STARTERS
*Roasted butternut squash soup
* Goats Cheese, honey roasted figs, walnuts, bitter leaf Salad
*Braised oxtail and pearl barley

MAINS
*Risotto mushroom, Bean curd, chestnut, beetroot puree (vegan)
* Roasted Cod, Cuttlefish and butter bean stew, parsley aioli
* Slow-cooked duck leg, lentils, winter vegetables.

DESSERTS
*Sticky toffee Pudding, Rum Sauce, Clotted Cream
*Rhubarb, baked custard, ginger nuts
* Dark chocolate Tart, Peanut butter ice-cream

COCKTAIL
* I can’t remember; it was something to do with cranberry’s or some berries, some vodka maybe. I'm not sure. I had the non-alcoholic version, but I think it had raspberry’s in it. Below L-R Winter cocktail and winter mock-tail

I have to say, the food was lovely. I had the roasted butternut squash soup, roasted Cod, the dark chocolate tart and peanut butter ice-cream.

Mains: Roasted Cod

Dessert: Choc Tart with Peanutbutter Icecream

My friend had the braised oxtail and pearl barley, I have to say it looked delicious. He also had the slow cooked duck leg, which I love duck I know I would have loved it. Lastly for Dessert he had the sticky toffee pudding (Below), to me it didn’t look appealing but he said it was really nice.

The customer service was AMAZING… well it had to be anyway but I still have to add this. In my job I always give customers 110 percent so I expect the same when I go to places.
Lastly I have to say it’s an amazing place to go, the view is so pretty. Of you have been here before it would be great if you could leave comments below so other readers can see you experience.

Boy London x Baby G Casio

So the guys at Boy London have been quite busy, Creating exciting new Pieces to add to your collecting of Timeless Edgy fashion pieces. Boy London is one of my favourite brands, I try and be very strict with how much Boy London own, Im afraid I may come to a point in life where I wont have anything other then Boy London in my wardrobe.

These Skirts are like my favourite Boy London skirts ever. I love the repeat print sweats, But when they released the print on the skirts, I wasn't to sure, I'm actually glad now I never purchased it as I'm in love with these skirt. There plain, chic and absolutely beautiful.

Other then releasing a new line, They have also collaborated with Casio and created a limited edition 200 units. They tie in with the new gold repeat sweats. Costing at around £150 exclusively available at the Selfridge's. Its a shame its limited edition as I know 200 of these are not enough to feed the fashion enthusiast worldwide.

Whoever wants to get there hands on these, better snap them up quickly.
